Daniel Stanton began his career in the optical industry as a college student spending his days at the office and nights attending classes. It was during this time he observed the significant mark-up cost customers experienced when purchasing eyeglasses as well as their overall frustration with the prolonged process to receive a finished product.
Daniel was convinced there had to be a better solution, so he embarked on a mission to develop a new model that would help redefine the eye care industry. Stanton’s desire was to make eye care easy – offering customers a vast selection of eyewear and an affordable, accessible, and efficient, end-to-end eye care experience.
The dream of delivering easy, affordable eye care became a reality for Daniel nearly 14 years ago when he partnered with the late optical industry executive, Marco Musa, to build the foundation of Now Optics (formerly Vision Precision Holdings).
In 2006, Now Optics and its banner brands Stanton Optical and My Eyelab were founded. The company’s first two stores opened shortly thereafter. Working directly with eyewear manufacturers, Daniel and Marco developed an exclusive, private-brand portfolio to reduce costs while delivering quality, fashionable products. In turn, the affordable prices charged to the customer reflected those savings.
With Daniel leading the company as its Chief Executive Officer in 2008, the organization accelerated its geographic footprint in key U.S. markets launching more than 100 stores nationwide under the Stanton Optical and My Eyelab brands, including its websites: StantonOptical.com and MyEyelab.com. Additionally, FrameGenie, a virtual eyeglass try-on concept, piloted online and via mobile in 2016.
Today, the company has nearly 200 retail stores in 25 states.
Driving the Future of Optical Health
Daniel recognized patient and doctor pain points regarding the eye exam experience and worked closely with Brad Brocwell, O.D. to research how technology could be a solution. By automating the process through innovative ocular telehealth technology, the doctor is able to focus on eye health diagnostics – providing them more flexibility. The patient benefits from a more streamlined exam experience and increased doctor availability.
The experience also delivered the convenience of walk-in appointments and exam availability from open to close.
Over the past three years, Now Optics affiliate locations have administered over 700,000 complete eye exams nationwide with the company’s proprietary telehealth technology solution.
